The Wasatch Front
Prime Water Solutions installs whole-home filtration, softening and reverse osmosis drinking water across the Wasatch Front. We size the system to what your water actually contains and to how much of it your household uses, and you get the number before anyone comes out.
Most water problems in The Wasatch Front come down to one of these three. Each one is treated differently, which is why the assessment comes first.
Salt Lake City's own 2026 water quality report puts finished water from its three canyon plants at 8.0, 10.2 and 12.4 grains per gallon, and the city's wells and springs between 9.6 and 33.4. Provo publishes 10 to 15 grains per gallon. Orem has recorded 7 to 25 on its own system. The figure that decides your equipment is the one at your tap, not the one for the valley.
West Jordan buys 93 percent of its water from the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District, which publishes delivered hardness of 170 mg/L, or 10 grains per gallon, and covers the rest from four city wells. Ogden blends its own wells with Pineview Reservoir, Wheeler Creek and purchased Weber Basin water. Provo runs on springs and deep wells. A system sized for one of those is not sized for the next.
Hardness is reported by Utah utilities as a secondary standard, monitored as an aesthetic matter rather than against a health limit, so there is no requirement to bring it down. Salt Lake City's published treatment sequence runs coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration and disinfection, and softening is not one of the steps. Whatever hardness the source carries arrives at the house.
Chlorine, chloramine and PFAS
You can usually taste it.
Most people cannot.
Nobody can.
Which is why the assessment starts with what your utility publishes about The Wasatch Front water, not a guess.
